The Mastic tree is a special plant that only grows on island of Chios in Greece, and has for millennia. The sap of the Mastic tree (or “Mastiha”) is a wondrous substance that has been used throughout antiquity for its medicinal and digestive properties. This sap is the base for this extraordinary liqueur.
Verdant on the nose with angelica root, green peppercorn, poppyseed, and lemon curd with a palate that expands upon these flavors alongside pine, aloe, prickly pear, and a lightly confectionary note of lemon poppyseed glaze on fresh vanilla cake. Surprisingly buoyant in texture with a lingering finish of saltwater taffy.
